It all began on a hot Raleigh summer day in 2011: Moni Singh, the first female engineer from her community and a seasoned contributor to wireless, satellite, and internet technologies in corporate America, sat down with her two young children (ages 5 and 6) to "engineer fun with math and science." Their first paper bridge couldn't hold even one pencil. Through trial-and-error redesigns, they created one that held 20 pencils strong. The big sparkles in their eyes—from making a meaningful connection with learning—ignited Moni's mission. Unable to find programs that captured that excitement, she founded STEM For Kids® to bring the thrill of science and engineering careers to children everywhere.
